Our Yamhill Carlton AVA vineyard first planted in 2001 to densely planted Dijon and Pommard clone Pinot Noir vines. It sits high on the western slope. This exposure helps catch the late afternoon sunlight, ripening the grapes evenly and contributing to a velvety texture. Cool air flowing into the Willamette Valley from the Pacific Ocean moderates the extreme summer heat. This helps preserve acidity in the grapes and lends a brightness to the finished wine. We farmed the vineyard using organic and biodynamic vineyard practices since its inception. More than half the property has been preserved as natural habitat including an threatened Oregon Oak savannah and a wetland. Wildlife abounds on the property. Bald eagle, herons, bobcat and many other species native to the Willamette Valley regularly visit the vineyard and the surrounding terrain.

This little pocket of the Willamette Valley is synonymous with world-class Pinot Noir. It is highly prized by collectors across the globe. Most Pinot from this area sells for more than 3 times the price of the Pretty Venom Pinot.
